Using only 1/4 of the sugar found in many applesauce recipes, this version allows the flavor of the fruit to shine, complimented by warming spices. Extra bonus! Warm-spiced Homemade Applesauce

Ingredients
- 3 pounds Organic Granny Smith Apples
- 1/2 cup organic sugar in the raw
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp ginger puree
- 1 star anise
- 1 cup filtered water
Instructions
- Wash 3 pounds organic Granny Smith apples. Core and slice apples (do not peel) and chop into 1 inch pieces. Place in crock pot. Add to crock pot sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, allspice and ginger, star anise and water and stir well. Turn crock pot onto high setting and cook mixture for 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve warm.
